The Paula Deen-style honey bun cake is a quick and delicious dessert option made from cake mix. The popular cake is the perfect solution to a sweet tooth and tastes just like its namesake, the honey bun.

For the cake portion, Paula Deen’s famous honey bun cake recipe requires a package of yellow cake mix, 4 eggs, 3/4 cup vegetable oil and 1 cup sour cream. For its filling, it requires 1 cup light brown sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon. For its glaze, it needs 1 to 2 tablespoons milk, 1 to 2 teaspoons vanilla and 2 cups powdered sugar.

In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, oil and sour cream, and mix on medium speed until smooth. Pour half the cake batter into a 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Mix together the light brown sugar and cinnamon, and sprinkle half of this mixture onto the cake batter, covering the entire surface. Pour the remaining cake batter on top, and then sprinkle on the rest of the cinnamon and sugar. Use a knife to create a swirl pattern in the batter. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.

For the glaze, combine the milk, vanilla and powdered sugar. Drizzle the glaze on top of the warm cake, and serve immediately. To make a variation of this recipe, add nuts such as pecans to the filling.
