To make a homemade flea repellent, use a combination of vinegar or lemon and water or a mixture of essential oils such as lavender, neem, eucalyptus and lemon in water. Pour the liquid in a spray bottle and spray it onto the pet.

To make a vinegar-based flea repellent, mix white vinegar and water in equal quantities. To make a lemon-based flea repellent, use 8 fresh lemons. Slice these into quarters and boil in water. Allow the lemon quarters to steep in the water for a minimum of three hours. Filter the liquid and pour into a spray bottle.

Use a combination of several essential oils such as peppermint, myrrh, rosemary, lemon grass, orange, rosewood and cedar among others to make an essential oil-based flea repellent. The potency of the repellent increases with the use of more essential oils.

To make this repellent, pour distilled water in a spray bottle and put three to five drops of each essential oil in it using an eye dropper. Shake the bottle to mix the ingredients, and set aside for half an hour before using.

In addition to spraying the homemade flea repellent on your pet, spray it on home furnishings and bedding. Also rub the repellent onto the pet’s fur. Re-apply once every two days for maximum effect.
