The main characters of “The Nutcracker” ballet are Clara Stahlbaum and the Nutcracker Prince. Other major players in the ballet include Uncle Drosselmeyer the toymaker, Clara’s brother Fritz, the Mouse King and the Sugar Plum Fairy.
At the beginning of the ballet, the Nutcracker is given as a Christmas gift to Clara Stahlbaum. During the night, the Mouse King attacks the Nutcracker and the other Christmas gifts. Clara and Uncle Drosselmeyer rescue them. As a reward, the Nutcracker transforms into the Nutcracker Prince and takes her on a tour of the Christmas Tree Kingdom, where the Sugar Plum Fairly and other magical beings live.
