How Do You Look up a Serial Number on a Louis Vuitton Purse?
Last Updated Mar 31, 2020 11:15:50 PM ET
Louis Vuitton does not include serial numbers in its regular bags, but the company does include a date code on the interior tag or lining that is easy to identify once a customer knows how to interpret the code. There will be no date codes on bags manufactured before 1980.
The codes inside the bags indicate where the bag was made and during what week and month. Since 2007, Louis Vuitton has marked the date codes as two letters and four numbers. The letters indicate the country it was made, specifically the factory location, and the first and third numbers represent the week and the second and fourth numbers represent the year.
