How Long Has “Wheel of Fortune” Been on Television?

The first episode of “Wheel of Fortune” premiered on Jan. 6, 1975. At the time, the show was hosted by Chuck Woolery and Susan Stafford and aired as a daytime program on NBC.

In 1981, Pat Sajak replaced Woolery, and in 1982, Vanna White replaced Stafford. Sajak and White have been the co-hosts of the nightly, syndicated version of “Wheel of Fortune” since its inception. As of September 2015, the show has aired over 6,000 episodes since it debuted, making it the longest-running syndicated game show in the United States. “Wheel of Fortune” has a worldwide following, with over 60 international adaptations.
