How Long Do I Have to Wait to Wear Makeup After Having Pink Eye?
When infected with pinkeye, EyeSmart recommends waiting two weeks after completing a course of topical antibiotics before using makeup. If the pinkeye is caused by a virus, doctors do not prescribe eye drops, but two weeks is also the suggested waiting period before resuming the use of makeup.
According to EyeSmart, if pinkeye affects the cornea or if the eye is still red and uncomfortable after two weeks, it is best to avoid makeup for a longer period. In any case, old cosmetics need to be discarded because it is possible the infection has spread to the makeup.
EyeSmart indicates that pinkeye, or conjunctivitis, is an inflammation of the inside the eyelid and the white of the eye. If caused by a bacterium or virus, it is very contagious; however, if it is simply a symptom of an allergy, pinkeye does not spread to others.
