How Long Does It Take a Texturizer to Grow Out?
Last Updated Mar 26, 2020 5:06:14 AM ET

The length of time that it takes for a texturizer to grow out is determined by the rate of hair growth, which is typically 0.5 inches per month. Hair that is processed using a texturizer must be cut off to remove the chemical from the hair completely.
A texturizer contains either sodium hydroxide or calcium hydroxide. These chemicals change the texture of the hair by loosening its natural curl pattern. A texturizer is simply a gentler form of hair relaxer. Both products contain the same basic ingredients, with the only difference being that a texturizer is left on the hair for a shorter period of time.
