Cooking times vary based on cooking temperature and size of the chicken breasts. However, most bone-in chicken breasts are done in about 35 to 45 minutes when oven baked at 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
The best way to judge if a bone-in chicken breast is thoroughly cooked is to use an instant-read thermometer, inserting it into the thickest part of the breast. When the breast is fully cooked, the thermometer should read 165 degrees Fahrenheit and all juices should run clear. Bone-in chicken breasts are easy to prepare, and because they have a bone present, the heat is more evenly distributed while cooking, allowing for a juicy, consistent finished product.
