According to the Piercing Pagoda, which provides professional piercing services, it typically takes four to six weeks for earlobes to heal after piercing. If the ear cartilage has been pierced, the healing time is eight to 12 weeks.
To facilitate the healing process after ear piercing, KidsHealth recommends making sure that the process is sanitary and the equipment and earrings are sterile. Choosing initial earrings with gold posts helps prevent a possible allergic reaction. Ears need to be treated daily with a specialized solution, rubbing alcohol or antibiotic ointment. Even after the ears have healed, it is a good practice to remove and clean earrings each night.
