How Long Does It Take to Cook Chicken Breasts in a Crock Pot?
Last Updated Mar 29, 2020 10:24:25 PM ET
On a low setting, it takes chicken breasts between six and 10 hours to cook in the crock pot. Cooking times are reduced to three to five hours when using the high setting.
To ensure even cooking, thaw frozen chicken breasts before cooking. Chicken breasts can be seasoned with a variety of herbs, including dill, oregano, garlic powder or tarragon. It is important to use liquid when cooking chicken in a slow cooker to keep the meat moist and tender. Water, broth, soups, dressings or sauces are suitable liquids for crock pot recipes. To avoid food-borne illnesses, chicken needs to reach an internal temperature of at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit before being consumed.
