How Long Can You Keep Cooking Oil After Its Expiration Date?

Canola oil, blended oil, olive oil and safflower oil can all be used for up to two years past their expiration date when unopened. Sesame oil, vegetable oil, corn oil, coconut oil and hazelnut oil all can be stored up to one year past their expiration date when unopened.

Once opened, olive oil continues to remain usable for two years past its expiration date, while most other types of oil remain viable for one year. The exception to this is hazelnut oil, which should be used in three months, and sesame oil, which should be used within eight months of opening. Store oil in a cool pantry to extend its shelf life.
