Chicken leg quarters consist of the drumstick, thigh and part of the back. They can be baked for 35 to 40 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit or for 45 to 50 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit. At 425 degrees Fahrenheit, it takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes to bake leg quarters properly.
All cuts of chicken need to reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit or higher to ensure food safety. To get an accurate temperature, insert a meat thermometer into the thigh meat. Make sure the thermometer does not make contact with any bones, as this can provide a false reading. For best results, bake chicken leg quarters with the skin side up in a shallow roasting or baking pan.
