What Are the Locations of Stew Leonard’s Supermarkets?

There are three Stew Leonard’s supermarkets located in Connecticut: one in Norwalk, one in Danbury and one in Newington. Stew Leonard’s also has one store in Yonkers, New York, as of 2015.

Stew Leonard’s also has wine stores located in each of its supermarkets, as well as in Farmingdale and Carle Place, New York and Clifton, Paramus and Springfield, New Jersey.

Nicknamed the “Disneyland of Dairy Stores” by the “New York Times,” Stew Leonard’s is a family-run supermarket. The store was originally founded in 1969 as a dairy store where children could watch milk being bottled while their mothers shopped in a farmer’s market-like atmosphere. Since then, Stew Leonard’s has expanded to selling meats, fish, produce, baked goods, cheese and wine.

The store is still family-owned and operated, with Stew Leonard, Jr., son of the founder, working as President and CEO. Jill Leonard is the Vice President of Culture and Communication, Beth Leonard founded the company’s “Bethy’s Bakery” and runs the gift shop, and Tom Leonard founded the Stew Leonard’s store in Danbury, Connecticut.

Stew Leonard’s has a strong dedication to high quality customer service, so there is a 3-ton granite rock located outside each store declaring “The Customer is Always Right.” Stew Leonard’s is similarly dedicated to creating a pleasant working environment for its staff.
