How Do You Take a Lexile Test for Free?

Students can access free Lexile assessments through various partners of MetaMetrics, an educational measurement and research organization that develops the Lexile Framework for Reading. These partner organizations include Achieve3000 and EdSphere. Students can also use the Find a Book search tool to estimate their current Lexile range based on a recently completed grade.

Achieve3000 is a Web-based literacy tool that combines KidBiz3000, TeenBiz3000 and Spark3000 programs to offer the LevelSet pre-test assessment, which calculates Lexile reading, writing and vocabulary proficiency. The test forms part of the Achieve3000 Spanish assessment and requires students to read text and answer comprehension questions based on their reading level. The KidBiz3000 portal contains assessments for students in grades two through five while TeenBiz is for students in grades six through 12. The Spark3000 program is for adult learners.

EdSphere is a personalized learning platform that utilizes the Lexile Framework to provide students with engaging reading and writing activities and tests that support literacy growth. Once students identify their Lexile measure, they can use the Find a Book search platform to find books that match their grade level. Students who do not know their Lexile measure or range can provide their current grade to find the right books.
