What Is the Legend of Dorian Gray?

Dorian Gray is a character in the 1890 serial by Oscar Wilde titled “The Picture of Dorian Gray.” The core of the story is that Dorian has a painting that reflects the results of his hedonistic lifestyle rather than his own body.

Dorian is the object of the adoration of a painter, who is another of the other main characters in the story. After seeing a painting of himself, Dorian wishes for the painting to take the abuse of his lifestyle, so he can continue to live his life as he pleases. The wish is granted, and the painting ages and becomes sick in his place.
