Kristine Tucker suggests using acrylic urethane enamel paint for bathtubs and sinks. Before applying acrylic urethane enamel, the homeowner needs to clean the porcelain surface and apply a coating agent. The coating agent works like a primer and helps the paint stick to the surface. After applying the paint, the homeowner places a heat lamp nearby and lets the lamp cure the paint. If one does not have access to a heat lamp, one can let the paint dry overnight. If homeowners notice any bumps or problems in the paint, they can use fine grit sandpaper to buff out those problem areas. When painting porcelain mugs and other decorative items, people should place the item in the oven set to 300 F for approximately 30 minutes, which gives the paint time to set and cure.
