The prison sentence of John Quincy Archibald (Denzel Washington) in the 2002 drama "John Q" was never revealed. His attorney, however, is overheard saying that no judge is going to give him "more than three to five (years)" and that she will try to get it dropped to two years.
After witnesses speak on his behalf at trial, John Quincy Archibald is acquitted of attempted murder and armed criminal action but still found guilty of kidnapping. The charges stem from taking an entire hospital hostage at gunpoint in an effort to get his son a heart transplant, which his insurance does not cover.
