What Does “ITT Tech” Stand For?
ITT Tech stands for ITT Technical Institute, a nationally-accredited school offering career-oriented education programs with a technical or business focus. The letters ITT originally stood for International Telephone and Telegraph, the company that owned the schools before 1994.
The International Telephone and Telegraph Corporation owned ITT Technical Institute from 1965 through 1994. After ITT Tech became publicly traded in 1994, the ITT Corporation gradually divested from the school, selling its last remaining shares in 1999. A licensing agreement allows ITT Technical Institute to continue using the “ITT” as a standalone tribute to the company’s history. ITT provides courses in subjects including electronics, drafting and design, criminal justice, health sciences and nursing.
