What Does Indigo Look Like?

Indigo is the color of purple grapes, blueberries and dark blue denim jeans. It is a dark purplish blue. In the color spectrum, it appears between blue and violet.

Indigo is named after the indigo plant from which indigo dye is made. According to some ancient records, Greeks and Romans used indigo dye. Indigo is a cool color that symbolizes trust, truthfulness and stability. It may also be associated with royalty and authority. In eastern mysticism, this color is associated with the third eye chakra. It signifies spirituality and higher consciousness. New Age proponents use the term “indigo children” to describe gifted, sensitive kids with highly evolved consciousness. These children are said to emit indigo auras.
