What Is Implied Texture?
Implied texture refers to the surface quality of an object, whether the texture is implied or actual. Implied, or visual, texture may be simulated or invented or created to look like another object.
The word texture refers to the tactile quality of an object’s surfaces, or the way it feels when touched. The goal of implied texture is to add emotional or physical depth rather than mimicking a specific object. Implied texture is abstract and is often designed to be decorative rather than touched. An example of implied texture in two-dimensional art is an illustration of plants showing the texture of the plants. The opposite of implied texture is realistic texture, which helps to recreate natural textures to help bring a realistic scenario to a page or piece of artwork.
