The ideal weight for a woman over 60 depends on her height, according to SFGate. Maintaining a healthy weight over age 60 is important in order to decrease health risks and increase quality of life. There are various methods fro calculating a healthy weight.
One method of finding a healthy weight is the Hamwi method, according to SFGate. This is a formula that adds 100 pounds for the first five feet of height to an additional 5 pounds for each additional inch over 5 feet. Another method is BMI calculation, which requires multiplying weight by 703, then dividing the result by height in inches, and then dividing that number again by height in inches. A healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9, according to SFGate.
