Who Makes Hummer Vehicles?

General Motors owns the brand name Hummer and manufactured the Hummer H3, while the Hummer H1 and H2 were produced by the previous owners of the Hummer brand, AM General. General Motors bought the brand name Hummer in 1998, but only provided marketing while AM General continued to do the manufacturing of the H1 and H2. General Motors eventually took over manufacturing duties of the H3.

AM General continues to manufacture parts for the H1 and H2, but production of the vehicles has ceased. In February of 2010, General Motors announced the plan to discontinue both the H3 and the entire Hummer brand.
