How Does a Homeowner Troubleshoot a Kenmore Elite Dryer?

The Kenmore Elite dryer has a smart display that can assist the homeowner with troubleshooting. If the display is working, a letter and/or number will be flashing. This flashing code can be matched to an explanation in the user manual.

If the display on the Kenmore Elite Dryer is not lit, the dryer is not receiving electricity. In this event, the plug, outlet and circuit breaker should be checked first. If these are all working properly, the homeowner will need to contact the service and repair department, as the electrical system in the dryer is not working properly. If, however, the display is working, it will be flashing a letter, number or a combination of the two. The owners? guide has a table for translating each of these codes. For instance, PF stands for power failure. In the event of a power outage, the dryer will not restart unless someone clears the code by holding down the “start” button until the machine restarts. This is a safety feature to prevent fires and is a simple fix.

If the user manual has been lost or damaged, a homeowner can find a downloadable PDF version on the Kenmore website. The product name and model number will be required to find the appropriate guide.
