What Happens If Your Water Pressure Is Too High?
Last Updated Apr 7, 2020 3:24:24 PM ET
One of the most common problems that happens when water pressure is too high is leaks in the plumbing. High water pressure can also cause faucets to make too much noise or cause spitting from the aerator when they get turned on or off.
High water pressure puts too much stress on household appliances, such as washers and dishwashers, causing their lifespan to shorten. This added stress also causes energy bills to rise. The hot water heater of a home can also fail sooner than expected, and in extreme cases they can explode. Toilets and other faucets can leak unexpectedly, while the sewer bills of the entire community can go up.
