What Happened to Bearville?
Build-A-Bear Worship Inc. shut down Bearville in 2015. A comparable website is located on BuildABear.com under Play, with interactive games such as “DreamWorks Dragons Puzzles” and “Honey Girls Puzzle Challenge” as of 2016.
Bearville’s creators based the decision to shut down Bearville on a poll of Bearville’s users and a general decline in Bearville’s popularity and the number of users during its seven years as an active website.
“Spooktacular Party Matching Game,” “Trick Shot,” “Paint Drop Rush,” “Minions Word Search” and “Letter Rearrange” are some other interactive games on BuildABear.com. A user account and log-on credentials are not required to play any games on BuildABear.com. Unlike Bearville, there is no associated chat community, no in-game gifts, no way to create virtual user identities and no alternative Bearville world to explore.
A mouse is sufficient to play interactive games on BuildABear.com. With the “Trick Shot” game, for instance, double-clicking on a virtual bear causes it to kick a piece of crumpled paper into a recycling bin, which results in earning points. With the “Honey Girls Puzzle Challenge,” users double-click and drag pieces of a virtual jigsaw puzzle to recreate a corresponding photo.
There are also guides for seasonal projects, such as pumpkin carving, and video installments of the “Bearville Alive” series.
