An adult over the age of 18 may not be listed as her own guarantor if she is a college student and remains under her parents’ health insurance plan or if she is mentally or physically disabled and not competent to cover her own medical expenses. A person under the age of 18 may be her own guarantor if she is legally emancipated or if she has a child in her own custody.
