What Are Some Good Choco Bake Substitutes?

To substitute for a packet of Nestle Choco Bake, mix 3 tablespoons of baking cocoa and 1 tablespoon of vegetable shortening, or melt and cool 1 1-ounce square of unsweetened chocolate. Nestle discontinued the Choco Bake product, which replaced melted unsweetened chocolate, as of 2015.

To use the substitute to make fudgy chocolate brownies, mix together 1 1/3 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. In a separate bowl, combine 1 2/3 cups of granulated sugar, 1/2 cup of melted butter, 4 packets worth of Choco Bake substitute and 2 large eggs. Whisk in 2 tablespoons of water and 1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, and then add the dry ingredients and 1/2 cup of chopped nuts.

Transfer the batter to a greased 9-by-13-inch baking pan, and bake it for 18 to 22 minutes in an oven preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
