Ginger ale has a low yeast content due to the fermentation process used to carbonate it. The soft drink is flavored with high-fructose corn syrup. Lemon and lime juices are also often used to provide a slight citrus flavor.

Ginger ale is often used as a remedy to treat upset stomach, sore throat, cough and motion sickness.
