What Gas Is Used in Fridges?

Ammonia gas is utilized as the coolant in gas refrigerators. A combination of water, ammonia and hydrogen gas are used to facilitate a continuous cycle for the ammonia.

The main parts of a refrigerator include the generator, separator, condenser, evaporator and absorber. The generator creates the ammonia gas. The ammonia gas is then separated from water by the separator. The condenser is where hot ammonia gas is cooled and condensed to produce ammonia in liquid form. The liquid ammonia is then changed into a gas to facilitate the cold environment in the refrigerator, and the ammonia gas is absorbed in water by the absorber.
