What Is the G Drive on a Computer?
On certain computers, the G drive may refer to a group directory, which can be accessed through the network drive. G drive also refers to the G-Drive, an external hard drive designed for Apple computers.
Windows computers use a system of letter names for the areas of storage on the machine. The C drive typically refers to the computer hard drive, and subsequent letters are assigned for each installed drive. Various organizations, such as colleges and universities, may use a system of networked storage, in which the drives are labeled similarly. G drives, or group directories, are storage locations that are shared by members of the organization. G-drive is also the name of a plug-and-play external drive for the Mac OS.
