Last Updated Mar 31, 2020 6:07:32 AM ET
The Ford F-150 cabin air filter is located behind the glove compartment inside the truck. The glove box must be removed from its location in order to access the filter.
There are two types of replacement cabin air filters to use on a vehicle. A standard filter uses a particulate type of foam which helps protect against pollen entering the vehicle. The other option to consider is the charcoal layered filter. The charcoal layered filter helps protect against heavier odors and is generally used in highly polluted areas.
Air filter replacement is a common maintenance procedure that is required to be done every 10,000 to 15,000 miles. The instructions listed below explain how to replace a cabin filter on a Ford F-150 pick-up truck.
- Locate the filter The filter is located in the passenger side behind the glove box on the Ford F-150. The location may change on models produced after 2014.
- Remove the glove box Loosen the screws that are holding the glove box in place and remove them. Then proceed to pull the glove box outwards.
- Access the air box Take apart the air box and remove the old air filter.
- Replace the filter Inspect the new filter and make sure it is inserted on the correct side. Install the new filter, close the air box and mount the glove compartment.
