According to LoveToKnow, some of the foods that do not contain carbohydrates include naturally-occurring meats, oils, animal fats and salt. Butter is the only dairy product that does not contain any carbohydrates.
LoveToKnow explains that naturally-occurring meats, such as beef, chicken, turkey, duck, goose and lamb, do not contain carbs. Organ meats, such as brains, liver and kidney, are also free of carbs as are fish, crab, lobster, shrimp, mussels, clams, oysters and eggs. Processed meats, such as bacon, ham, sausage and frankfurters, contain low levels of carbohydrates because of the seasoning blends and solutions added to the meat.
According to LoveToKnow, oils from avocado, canola, grapeseed, olive, safflower and other vegetables and nuts contain no carbs. Other types of oils that do not have carbohydrates include fish oils, lard and other forms of animal fats. Dairy products, such as heavy cream and fatty cheeses, usually contain very few carbohydrates.
LoveToKnow states that looking for foods that contain zero carbohydrates is easy. All it takes is careful reading of labels on food packages. Before starting a no-carbohydrate diet, it is important to consult with a physician as health professionals warn this type of diet may cause some adverse health effects.
