According to Famous Logos, the font of the primary New York Yankees team logo is a handwritten typeface. A blue and red Uncle Sam hat rests on a baseball bat, which comprises the “K” in the nickname.
One of the most recognized logos in sports, the print was developed by renowned graphic artist Henry Alonzo Keller in 1947, and has undergone minor modifications over the years. The red, white and blue are meant to symbolize the bravery, patriotism, perseverance and purity of the American flag. Home jerseys feature the interlocking “NY” at the left breast, while the road greys feature “NEW YORK” in block capitals across the chest.
