The finch symbolizes a high energy life or someone who likes to keep active. Runners may find that the finch is an ideal symbol for their very busy lifestyle. On seeing a finch, it is supposed to symbolize a new phase in life that brings happiness. It may also symbolize a busy time in your life with work or with your personal life.

The finch also symbolizes family and vulnerability. Although the finch is very active, it is vulnerable when attacked, and that aspect is commonly played off in literature and the performing arts. The color of the finch has a direct symbolic connection to dieting and health. The finch’s pigmentation is directly influenced by what they eat, which mostly consists of plant matter in contrast to their earthworm eating peers. Finches with a healthier diet display brighter colors, and if they are eating well and living a healthy lifestyle, then their color may be a bright yellow. In fact, the bright yellow finch is used to symbolize dieting groups and healthy lifestyle groups.
