Does Fibromyalgia Cause Excruciating Leg and Foot Pain?

Fibromyalgia can cause chronic pain throughout the muscular system, including the legs, but the most common symptom in the feet is numbness or tingling, notes WebMD. Fatigue, inactivity, tension, weather changes and other factors can cause the symptoms to present with varying degrees of intensity.

The causes of fibromyalgia vary widely from one sufferer to the next, and symptoms can vary widely as well. Some of the most common symptoms, in addition to muscle pain in the legs and tingling feet, include fatigue; reduced energy; insomnia; stiffness after sitting in one position for too long or after waking up; and migraine headaches. Other symptoms include tenderness in the face and/or jaw, irritable bowel syndrome, nausea, bloating, sensitivity to changes in temperature, anxiety, depression, elevated urgency or frequency of urination and a sensation of swelling in the feet or hands without real swelling, according to WebMD.

Each symptom can fluctuate as the day goes on, states WebMD. Early morning, late afternoon and evening are often the worst times, but such variables as overexertion, hormonal changes, spending a lot of time in drafty or cold conditions, activity levels, stress and fatigue can all influence the severity and number of symptoms of fibromyalgia.
