What Are Examples of Modern Day False Prophets?

Some modern day false prophets according to Baptist site Jesus-Is-Savior.com include Ellen G. White, Joseph Smith, Kenneth Copeland, Benny Hinn and Hal Lindsey. Ellen G. White was one of the founders of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, which is generally considered by mainstream Christianity to have heterodox doctrines. Joseph Smith was the founder of Mormonism and that religion is also considered false by mainstream Christianity.

Benny Hinn is known for his false prediction that all American homosexuals would be destroyed by fire at some point in the late 1990s. He further claimed that there are nine beings in the Godhead. Most Christians believe in the Trinity, but Hinn said each being in the Godhead has its own trinity. He also made a statement on TBN, Trinity Broadcast Network, that Jesus would appear onstage with him in South Africa.

Kenneth Copeland has taught that Adam was an actual incarnation of God and that Jesus died on the cross, went to hell, became a demon and was then born again. Copeland also has said that Jesus was not God in his earthly life.

Hal Lindsey has been criticized for heretical teachings such as saying that Christians are better than other people and that they are always saved no matter what they do, which has been interpreted by some as a license to sin.
