Filipino values include fostering a sense of harmony amongst social groups in order to bring about peace. A strong sense of family ties and obligation is also a core Filipino value.
Filipino people generally believe that the father is the head of the household and is solely responsible for providing for the family financially. The mother's job, traditionally, is to nurture the children and take care of domestic responsibilities. Filipino parents often do not encourage their children to move out of the home too soon, even after their sons and daughters have reached adulthood. Filipinos are also motivated by the opinions of others, particularly loved ones, and this governs their social behavior.
