What Are Examples of Dual Sports?
A dual sport is one that can be played with only two people, such as tennis or fencing. Tennis and fencing both have just two players who face off against one another.
In tennis, the game takes place on a tennis court. The court is flat and has a net in the middle. In tennis, the two tennis players take turns serving. To win the game, one of the tennis players must reach a set number of points. In tennis, the points are scored in five progressing numbers. A tennis player can only win a game if he has the two-point advantage that is required.
In fencing, the game takes place on a marked-out strip known as the piste. The game is called a “bout” or a “fight” and consists of the two fencers. To win, the fencers have to score a set number of hits. A hit is made with the point of the sword and is considered “good” when the point of the sword touches the fencer’s opponent. The idea behind fencing is to hit your opponent as many times as you can before your opponent hits you. Each bout of fencing has a time limit, and after this time limit, the winner is determined.
