When writing a death announcement, it should include the full name of the deceased, the deceased's age at the time of death, and the date and location of death. Details regarding any spouse and any family members such as children, grandchildren or parents can also be included.
Family members can also add details of life achievements and should provide information on the funeral service and where the body is to be laid to rest. A photo of the deceased could also be considered and added to the notification.
Family members are encouraged to write their own death notifications, as this is more meaningful and heartfelt. Many funeral homes provide announcements on behalf of the family or can suggest what information to include.
