One example of a hyperbole in “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald is when Nick Carraway describes Daisy Buchanan’s voice as “bringing out the meaning in each word that it never had before and never had again.” Fitzgerald uses hyperbole to describe the characters throughout the novel.
Jay Gatsby describes Daisy’s voice in hyperbole by saying, “Her voice is full of money.” Hyperbole is when a subject is exaggerated or emphasized in a statement that is not true in the literal sense. Another example of hyperbole in “The Great Gatsby” is when Nick Carraway describes Gatsby as “a son of God.”
