What Engine Oil Is Used in a Honda Accord?
For the 2015 model year, Honda recommends that customers use American Petroleum Institute certified motor oil with a 0W-20 viscosity grade. Honda recommends this oil for both four and six-cylinder engines, and in traditional or synthetic forms. For the 2010 Honda Accord, Honda recommends 5W-20 viscosity oil, also API certified.
Honda also recommends API certified 5W-20 oil for the 2005 Honda Accord but recommends 5W-30 viscosity oil for the 2000 Honda Accord. These oils are all recommended for Accords with both four and six-cylinder engines, and in synthetic or traditional forms. Honda recommends that owners change the oil every 7,500 miles, or 12 months, for both engines in the 2000 Accord. For the 2015 Accord, the car’s computer calculates oil life based off of driving conditions and informs owners when its oil must be changed.
