The acronym “DWT” stands for “diamond weight total,” which means the total weight of all diamonds comprising pieces of jewelry, such as rings, bracelets, pendants, watches and necklaces. Due to deviations in diamond weights, some jewelers use other notations, including “CWT” for “carat weight total” and “CTW” for “carat total weight.”

Diamonds are measured in carats, which can be denoted using three various methods: point system, an abbreviated form or a fraction. A carat is commonly abbreviated to “ct” or “CT” and a carat weight to “cw” or “CW.” The acronym “DWT” is also written as “DTW,” which stands for “diamond total weight.”
