Is the DMV Open on Saturday in Florida?

Most DMV offices in the state of Florida are not open on Saturdays. Normal office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. However, some locations may have limited DMV services available on the weekend.

The services offered at a DMV office vary and include driver license services, motor vehicle services and traffic tickets. Driver license services include such things as driver license renewals, ID cards, driver license reinstatements and written and skills exams. Obtaining specialty tags for vehicles, trailers, vessels and mobile homes as well as disabled parking permits fall under motor vehicle services. Traffic tickets are usually paid or contested through the Clerk of Courts.

The type of service required may determine the hours of availability. For example, DMV offices in some Florida counties may be open on Saturdays for motor vehicle services but not for driver license services. If a traffic ticket needs to be paid, that is through the Clerk of Courts and that office almost always operates on a Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule.

In general, it is a good idea to contact one’s local DMV office to verify its hours. This will save a wasted trip on a Saturday just to find the office is closed.
