What Are the Disadvantages of Modern Transport?

The biggest disadvantage of modern transportation is the toll it takes on the environment in the form of pollution. Not only do vehicle emissions contain pollutants, but materials routinely needed for proper maintenance also pollute the environment.

Rubber tires, used motor oil, and other nonrecyclable or partially recyclable parts from vehicles usually end up in junk yards and landfills.

Another disadvantage of modern transportation in the cost associated with maintenance. The average cost to maintain a personal vehicle is estimated to be close to $10,000 annually per household. General repair and maintenance, combined with the cost of insurance, fuel and oil, adds up quickly. The average cost of $10,000 annually also increases if the vehicle is driven further than the average of 15,000 miles per year.
