The World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) approves two different sizes for tournament play, which include 9 foot by 4.5 foot and 8 foot by 4 foot. Pocket billiard tables can come in all sizes, but the shape is always rectangular with a two to one ratio.
The measurements of the playing surface for the 9 foot table is 100 inches by 50 inches, and the playing size for the 8 foot table is 92 inches by 46 inches. The measurements allow for a 1/8 of an inch margin of error. Often referred to as the WPA standard or the American style, the table also features wide angular pockets for the balls that funnel inward.
