What Are the Dimensions of Flat Screen Televisions?

Flat screen televisions range in size from 22 inches to 110 inches. Televisions are measured by the distance across the screen diagonally.

Generally, people prefer buying flat screen televisions in the mid-size range, from around 50 to 70 inches. This size works well in both large and small rooms and companies often offer the best deals on TVs of this size.

Choosing the perfect television size is easy once a user has determined the size of the room in which it will be placed. People should be able to see the television perfectly at a range of between 7 and 10 feet away and there should be no sharp angles in which people will be expected to watch.

There is also a formula to help consumers purchase the best television for their available spaces. For regular HD TVs, multiply the viewing distance by 7.7 to come up with the recommended television size. For the new ultra HD TVs, multiply by 12. For example, for a viewing distance of 6 feet, a regular HD television that measures around 46 inches would be perfect. For an ultra HD TV, at a viewing distance of 6 feet, a 72-inch television would work in the space.
