What Are the Dimensions of a CD Case?
Last Updated Mar 25, 2020 3:38:22 PM ET

The standard dimensions of a CD case are 5.59 inches long by 4.92 inches wide and 0.39 inch deep. Inasmuch as some CD cases are designed to hold more than one CD, the case depth varies. On the other hand, the length and width of cases rarely vary.
The standard CD case today is the same jewel case used when CDs first went on the market in 1982. The dimensions of CD cases are important when designing case covers/inserts. Despite a common misconception, CD cases and DVD cases do not typically have the same dimensions, though the disks themselves are generally the same size.
