The difference between angels and archangels is that archangels have vastly more power than angels. Karen Noe writes in a Beliefnet article titled “Guardian Angels and Archangels – Differences and Similarities” that archangels can be in more than one place at a time, while angels can only be in one place.

According to BibleStudy.org, there are only three angels named in the Bible. Michael and Gabriel are the only two archangels and Lucifer, although not an archangel, is the other angel named. Gabriel isn’t clearly defined as an archangel; however, his involvement in major Biblical events suggests that he likely is one of them. Angels and archangels are depicted in various TV shows and movies. “Supernatural” on the CW Network depict angels and archangels and their overall power and essence in a similar light as most scholars. However, to make the show more interesting, they also use creativity to give angels their own storyline. Lucifer remains the most popular angel due to him being the ruler of Hell. According to BibleStudy.org, “Lucifer, who because of vanity and sin, turned himself into the devil.” As history puts it, Lucifer’s power and essence as an angel makes him greatly powerful when using those gifts for sin.
