Very little is known about the early life of William Shakespeare before he became a writer. He was born in 1564 and married his wife Anne in 1582 at the age of 18, but scholars debate what happened in the next 10 years of his life.
The first records that mention Shakespeare as an actor and a playwright are from 1592, and many historians speculate that he may have either worked as an assistant schoolteacher or a horse assistant at London theaters before he began his career as a poet and playwright. Still, there are no known records of Shakespeare between 1585 and 1592, so it is impossible to know what he did prior to becoming a writer.
