Why Did Ralna English and Guy Hovis Divorce?

In an interview, Ralna English stated that her marriage to Guy Hovis ended because, although the two were passionately in love, they never really liked each other. The couple, who married in 1969, separated in 1978 and divorced in 1984.

Singing as a duo, Ralna English and Guy Hovis performed together regularly on “The Lawrence Welk Show” from 1970 to 1982. After their divorce in 1984, the singers embarked on solo musical careers, with Hovis leaving music in 1990 to work as state director for Mississippi senator Trent Lott. After Lott retired, Hovis and English reunited to perform several concerts. As of 2015, they still perform together regularly.
